But wait ... there's more to come!

Hi friend,

You haven’t heard from us for a while, but we’re busy working on new episodes with powerful stories about GI resistance in-country (the term soldiers used for being in Vietnam). But first … we need your help!

If A Matter of Conscience has moved, surprised, or taught you something new, please help us spread the word! Share the podcast with a friend, leave a review on Apple Podcasts or Spotify (rate it 5 stars), and post about it on social media. The more people who hear these stories of courage and conscience, the more this hidden chapter of history can find the audience it deserves. Every text to your friends or post on social media makes a difference!

Before we go, we leave you with a special message from Ukraine. Bill is traveling in Ukraine, meeting the valiant people who are resisting the constant attacks by Russia. In Kyiv, he interviewed Dmitry Morozov, who survived seven months of brutal imprisonment in a Russian POW (Prisoner of War) camp. He was released in 2022 in a prisoner exchange.

We were all very skinny, exhausted, and malnourished. But walking towards us were Russian prisoners who were quite well and fat. So the Ukrainians took good care of the Russians, but the Russians did not take care of the Ukrainians.

Dmitry told Bill, “It’s not easy to share my story, but people like you make it feel important and worthwhile.”

As the expression goes, "You have to know the past to understand the present" (Carl Sagan). Consider this recent headline from The Guardian:

Trump threats cause dilemma for US officers:
disobey orders or commit war crimes.

We hope our podcast is evidence that we can push back against illegal orders and war crimes.

(FYI: "GI" is slang referring to soldiers as “Government Issued” equipment.)
