Episode 4 Premieres Today!

A Matter of Conscience Podcast: GI Resistance During the Vietnam War

Hi friend,

Look out for Episode 4 of our show A Matter of Conscience: GI Resistance During the Vietnam War today Wednesday June 11th!

The Ramparts magazine cover from February 1966, features U.S. Army Master Sergeant Donald W. Duncan, whose article exposed atrocities in the American war effort.

In the episode we focus on the Green Berets, the special forces branch of the U.S. Army. This branch figures into the stories of two early and well-known GI resisters:  Dr. Howard Levy and Donald Duncan. Both men made strong public stands against the war, and both worked tirelessly for the GI anti-war movement after they were discharged from the Army.

We’ll hear how Duncan gave up a promising life-long military career because of the tactics used by the United States in the Vietnam War. And Dr. Levy recounts his journey from an unsophisticated medical student to become a fierce warrior against the war.

On May 10, 1967 U.S. Army Captain Howard Levy faced a court martial because he refused to train Special Forces soldiers for the Vietnam War as he considered it a violation of his medical ethics.
