Fighting Two Wars

A Matter of Conscience: GI Resistance During the Vietnam War - EPISODE 9: FIGHTING TWO WARS (premieres TODAY)

Hi friend,

Today we have a new and compelling episode of A Matter of Conscience, focusing on how Black soldiers in Vietnam were fighting two wars: The struggle to stay alive and a battle against persistent racism in the U.S. military. Listen here on Apple and Spotify

We examine the resistance efforts by four Black GIs who tell their poignant stories of confronting and surviving the racist military culture, discovering their Black consciousness, and grappling with the after-affects of their wartime experiences when they returned to “The World.”

This episode features the powerful poetry of Army veteran Lamont Steptoe, a GI resister. You’ll hear his story, along with the stories of Jabiya Dragonsun, Clarence Fitch, and Greg Payton.

To produce these episodes takes time and money, so if it has been a while or if you haven’t donated to A Matter of Conscience yet, now is the time. It will make a big difference to us to reach our fundraising goal.

Need more info about our work? You can listen to our podcast episodes from this past year. Also, you can read about the exhibit that we turned into this podcast in our Wikipedia article.

Our goal is to raise a minimum of $5,000. That is just 50 people donating $100.

Listener donations will help us release more episodes that reveal the hidden history of soldiers resisting unlawful orders (sound familiar?).

You can find more information about the work you will be supporting on the AMOC website, or reach out to us directly at [email protected].

A reminder that all contributions are tax-deductible. Please make a contribution directly at our IDA link. It’s not too late to give and join the global movement of generosity.

Thanks, as ever, for your support—we hope you enjoy the podcast!
